WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Gifts
2 decks of cards
WHAT TO DO:
This game can played having each person bring a gift (set budget) or if a children’s Christmas Party have a gift for each child (Dollar store gifts and maybe one or two cool gifts).
The idea is to have 2 different decks of cards. Then place the gifts in a central location and have everyone gather around in a circle and count how many people are in your group / participating. FYI – Remember sometimes a couple will bring two gifts other times they bring one. Basically in this game 1 card per gift.
Now pass out one card to each person who brought a gift (if child’s party one per child) and don’t forget to give yourself a card too. Then do another round and continue until most or all the cards are passed out. Note everyone should have the same number of cards, so if 20 people play then 2 cards per person, if 15 play 3 cards, 12 play then 4 cards each etc…
Make sure the second deck of cards are shuffled and then select a card from the top of the pile and call it out. The person that has that card turns it into the host/hostess and then they can pick a prize from the pile. Once the first person picks a prize then the next card is called and that person can steal a gift or pull from the pile.
However, here is a twist to this game if the first person to pick a prize has one of there other cards picked while there are still gifts in the pile they can steal a gift from someone or select another gift from the pile. (FYI – This will work out in the end)
However, when all the prizes are taken from the table, guests that do not yet have a gift can steal a gift from anyone whether they have one or two gifts. If a person has two gifts and someone steals one then you just move on to the next card. In the end everyone will have one gift.
And once everyone in the group has one gift instead of stealing you are then trading gifts and there is only one trade per turn.
Once you run through the deck you are done and the gift you have is yours to keep!
Want to make it more exciting
Randomly place one or two cards in envelopes and call these Keeper Cards. Keeper cards mean that the gift you select is yours to keep and no one else can steal it. Reveal these cards near the end of the game and space them out several turns.
